“This year was obviously unacceptable.” Around mid-September, the New York Yankees’ owner Hal Steinbrenner said the management will hire a third-party company to scrutinize the team from top to bottom. It is likely that the October will commence with the drama getting real. At one end where teams that qualified for the postseason will be eyeing the World Series trophy, the Bronx Bombers, on the other, will be having their one of a kind ‘offseason’.
The 2023 season was a forgettable experience for The Yankees fans. Multiple injuries and game losses defined their entire season. However, this paved the way for another drama; i.e. to investigate the reasons for the “big failure” to fix the team’s strategy for the next season. Per the latest tweet, the Yanks are expected to have their own kind of offseason, attracting “massive” changes.

The current version of The Yankees is only the skeleton of the team that fans saw during Jeter’s time. Though the time has gone by, expectations are still the same. But the 2023 season has uncovered the brutal fact of the team that even shaken Hal Steinbrenner. Bob Klapisch claimed, “‘(Steinbrenner) has had enough’ of being a runner-up.” Hence, Steinbrenner is determined to investigate the issue’s root causes and identify solutions for rectifying it.

Among the major investigation aspects, “successes and failures in the Bombers’ trade since the last decade” comes first. Others include “the shake-out of the draft picks, including the international draft, the number of games (and dollars) lost to injuries and the state of minor league player development.”
The reports will be neutral and based on data. As the source reported, these won’t be biased towards anyone. If that really happens, it will probably reveal the disastrous trade decisions the GM of the team made during these years. But this decision fails to convince The Yankees fans. They still think it’s only a show without any serious purpose. Moreover, will this overhaul cost the team’s manager Aaron Boone his job?

Is Aaron Boone Under Threat?
There’s still no news about Aaron Boone’s role or whether his job is under threat. Fans assume that Aaron Judge‘s good relationship with Boone may probably save his job. Even Klapisch claimed Boone had enough wins to save his job. Additionally, his friendly behavior with players will probably go in his favor. Per him, “Hal would prefer to ‘not’ fire Aaron.”

However, that again makes fans think it’s a joke. According to them, if firing people is not part of the audit, it’s nothing. As a result, this audit is garnering more criticism than support. Nevertheless, the audit begins early October, do you think it will be successful in revealing the loopholes in The Yankees system?
