For the Los Angeles teams, this season isn’t going as bright and sunny as they would have wanted. Both the teams Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels are struggling with some key players being injured and on the sideline. Angels’ Antony Rendon can’t seem to catch a break from injuries and is back in the stands again. Rendon has played just 41 games this season, going hitless in his last 12 at-bats. And he has yet to play more than 58 games in any of his five seasons with the team.

The Dodgers don’t have things easy and already have plenty of players on the outs. Adding one more name to the list is Tyler Glasnow. He has had a history of elbow injuries and a Tommy John surgery and he has once again injured his elbow!

The saga of injuries continues for the Dodgers!

Pitcher Tyler Glasnow is again headed to the injured list. This is the second time in just over a month that Glasnow has been sidelined. Previously, it was because of back tightness and this time it’s because of elbow tendonitis. Even though Glasnow was supposed to start Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, he now finds himself placed on a hospital bed.

This isn’t the first time that Glasnow has injured his elbow because back in 2021 he didn’t just injure his elbow, he had to go through surgery for it. So, another injury this time surely doesn’t make things didn’t look good. However, thankfully the stars must have aligned because Glasnow’s injury turned out to be minor this time around. Dave Roberts said that there was no structural damage found in the MRI, so Glasnow could return to the games after a quick 15-day rest!

The Los Angeles Dodgers can heap a sigh of relief after that news. For a while, it looked like their pitching injury storm was just about to become bigger. From River Ryan’s Tommy John to Dustin May’s weird esophagus battle, the list is endless. However, it doesn’t mean there isn’t a ray of light here. The $325 million star Yoshinobu Yamamoto is coming back to the mound soon. This along with the fact that Tyler Glasnow, who’s been a standout as a first-time All-Star this season with a 9-5 record, a 3.49 ERA, and 168 strikeouts in 134 innings, is expected to return after 15 days is a huge relief for the team.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Dodgers survive without Tyler Glasnow, or is their season already doomed?

Antony Rendon is back on the injured list just weeks after activation

Los Angeles Angels‘ luck has rather been bitter this season, with no notable performances and player injuries that are piling up. On August 16, it was confirmed that Antony Rendon, their third baseman, had a right elbow contusion. This happened during the fourth inning of their game with the Atlanta Braves. This isn’t great news given that Antony Rendon was only just activated on August 7 and since April 20, he has played in just around 22 games!

Also, the fans have turned bitter towards the 30-year-old for many reasons and haven’t been shy to express themselves on socials. One fan said, “Dude needs to retire now. He fleeced the Angels” while another replied, “Death, taxes, Antony Rendon being hurt.” Rendon has become a whipping boy for the fans at this moment. But it’s not just his injuries that caused him his poor rep! Back in January, Antony Rendon told Jack Vito in his podcast, “We got to shorten the season, man. There’s too many dang games — 162 games and 185 days or whatever it is. Man, no. We got to shorten this bad boy up.” Given the amount of games Rendon has played, the irony couldn’t be more evident!

And fans’ disappointment is understandable because back in 2019, when Rendon was with the Washington Nationals, he did great and after he joined the Angels in 2020 with so much promise, nothing has been delivered. Plus, frustrations are high as Mike Trout, their star player, is also not in the mix and suffered two meniscus tears to the same knee this year. However, he has had a successful surgery, and it looks like he might return early next season.

This double dose of bad luck has left both teams struggling with their unique challenges. But right now the Dodgers are still in a better position and are managing to stay in the hunt for the NL West title, holding a narrow two-game lead. A small margin, but they seem to be in a better position than the Angels.
