The 9/11 massacre completely shook Manhattan and, by extension, the entire country. The lives lost were irreplaceable, and the trauma that was left behind could never be compensated for. Notably, Victor J. Saracini captained United Airlines Flight 175, which struck the South Tower of the World Trade Center. A few days after the devastating attacks took place, Saracini’s daughter, Brielle, on her best friend’s recommendation, wrote a letter to the Yankees phenom, Derek Jeter.

Brielle Saracini carried a lifelong dream to meet shortstop Jeter. After the attack, multiple popular personalities reached out to Brielle as a show of support. While describing her experience at Yankee Stadium, Brielle spoke about the comfort and happiness she felt when she was in the Bronx. At the stadium, the family met the team and watched the game along with them.
