Baseball icon Alex Rodriguez has continued to achieve great heights ever since he came to the diamond almost three decades ago. It has been a long journey in which the iconic ball player became quite successful at perfectly balancing his game and multiple ventures. Rodriguez dipped his hands into business shortly after receiving his first paycheck from MLB. After working hard enough, he brought his company’s value close to a billion dollars. After retiring in 2016, he transitioned completely into a businessman. While doing so, he took one thing from baseball and made it his company’s primary goal.
In an interview with Forbes in August 2021, Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez talked about multiple things, including his affair with baseball and how playing the game brought him close to his company’s primary goal.

A-Rod started his investment firm by selling the Rolex watches that he had bought from his first paycheck. It was his dream to enter the business world, just as playing baseball was his other dream. Notably, he grew to be successful as he made his net worth push to a massive value of $350 million. But before completely transitioning into business, the former Yankee had picked up some things from baseball that still stay with him.
While playing the game for over two decades, Rodriguez realized he was not a player who liked to go wide and shallow. Instead, he was the ballplayer who wanted and liked to play narrow and deep. He took this realization and became the person who focused on one area instead of spreading his attention to various places.
A-Rod said about his experience, “Every day, you start with a new scoreboard. I’ve learned in my time, both in baseball and business that I don’t like go wide and shallow but narrow and deep. This is one of the assets that we have at A-Rod Corp, that we’re going narrow and deep. We still think we’re in the early innings of doing something very special.”

Instead of staying prone to balls hit over their head by going wide and shallow in life, one should be completely focused on his goal.
