Baseball icon Derek Jeter is undoubtedly one of the best players in the history of baseball. After giving a Hall of Fame-worthy career, he bid farewell to the game in 2014. Throughout his career, apart from playing for the New York Yankees, he continued to work for the benefit of people for the betterment of society.
Before hanging up his cleats for good, he joined his former teammates, CC Sabathia, and Robinson Cano, as they joined forces to present the Summer Classic Charity Basketball Game at Barclays Center. But the Captain was not the only one present. With him joined many other pro athletes from NBA and MLB while including Hollywood celebrities like billionaire Rihanna, iconic singer Chris Brown, and many others. But Jeter wasn’t there to simply watch the game.
What did Derek Jeter do during the game?

The aim of the Charity game was to create more opportunities for underprivileged youth in the areas of education, wellness, and fitness. With the help of everyone present at the game, they successfully managed to raise $1,040,000. Former Yankees CC Sabathia and Robinson Cano hosted the game. They also led the Teams Sabathia and Cano for a game against each other.
Both Yankees legends brought in reinforcements. They included Derek Jeter, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, and others, to coach the players from the sidelines. With them, many celebrities including the $1.4 billion worth Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, Jay Williams, Stephen A. Smith, DJ Clue, Fabolous, Young Jeezy, Future, and various others as well.
Without these celebrities, and the thousands of people present at the game, the event would not have been as successful as it was. And with Derek Jeter helping from the sidelines, team Cano won by two points.

When did the Hall of Famer retire?
The summer classic charity basketball game took place in late August 2014. Around four to five weeks later, the five times world series champ, held the baseball bat for the last time. He ended his career with an iconic walk-off single.
