According to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, Brewers GM Matt Arnold has been facing questions from opposing executives about the team’s reluctance to let Corbin Burnes go. During the winter meetings that happened at the beginning of the month, some general managers thought that Corbin Burnes would finally be traded, given that the Brewers received the right offer. Because they only have a year left until Burnes decides to take his MLB fate into his own hands.

Corbin Burnes is all set to achieve free agency after next season. The team will not be able to get him to sign again. What needs to be seen now is whether they keep waiting until the deadline arrives. The Brew Crew might also choose to make a move that proves to be beneficial for both the player and the team.

Milwaukee still needs to clinch some well-rounded pitchers to enhance the bullpen. A trade option with teams like the Giants, Blue Jays, or Orioles seems feasible as they have some aces to spare. They will be getting a hefty pitcher in return, as the 2021 NL Cy Young awardee brings more than his salt’s worth to any clubhouse he chooses to side with. His records from this year say nothing different.

Burnes struck out 200 with a 1.069 WHIP and an ERA of 3.39 across the 32 games he started in. His win record for this year stands at 10/8. Needless to say, he will be an invaluable addition to any team, whether he changes clubhouses this year or next. Milwaukee won’t be able to sign him once Burnes becomes a free agent next year. Will they keep him until then or wait until next year’s trade deadline? Or will the moves be made this winter? Only Matt Arnold can say.
