MLB legend Alex Rodriguez, despite making quite a few mistakes during his playing days, will go down as one of the best ever to play the game. He earned multiple accolades during his lengthy career in the big league. After playing for the Yankees and a couple of other MLB teams, A-Rod became quite a big name in baseball. As long as A-Rod played the ballgame, his focus remained on the game only, and he did not make any extra effort in his fashion sense. But all of this changed in his post-retirement career.

After retiring in 2016, Rodriguez turned completely toward his business but somehow remained connected to the game. The former Yankee’s sense of style changed when he started to appear on television as a game analyst on a daily basis. With A-Rod being on display, his fashion sense was also there for the audience to notice. Hence, Rodriguez turned into a style icon. And recently, the 14x All-Star credited his absentee father for inspiring his love for style.

Alex Rodriguez learned quite a bit from his father!

For those unversed, Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez’s father, Victor Rodriguez, had left his family when A-Rod was only nine years old. Victor had left his family to fend for themselves, with A-Rod’s mother working two jobs to put food on the table. However, before leaving, Victor had left an impact on his son, which A-Rod still remembers fondly.

While talking to One37pm, the MLB analyst and business magnate A-Rod about his sense of style said, “I think it probably started right at the beginning with my father. He was always very formal by nature, and I always watched him with his suits and stuff. That was probably the first time I was influenced.”

A-Rod’s relationship with his father has been a topic of public interest over the years. And A-Rod himself did not have much contact with his father. Even so, when he was asked about his style inspiration, his father was the first person that came to his mind.

The Yankees weren’t the team that interested Rodriguez while growing up!

While growing up, A-Rod used to stay up late for his mother to come back home from her second job. It was the time that he used to catch up on the games, and the team he used to root for was the New York Yankees’ crosstown rivals, New York Mets.
