Los Angeles Angels surely hope that miracles do exist. They have just faced a terrible season and face a difficult future ahead. Their superstar, Shohei Ohtani is now a free agent. And with the constant upheaval in management, the team has lost its structure. Now, a search for a new manager is underway and the prospective name doesn’t inspire confidence in fans. Moreover, the chances of resigning Ohtani might have dampened a bit more.
Ex-Mets skipper Buck Showalter is interested in working for the Angels. That Buck Showalter himself had a bad last season with the Mets has sent mixed signals to the fans. So what is the problem? It is his record.
Will the Los Angeles Angels sign Showalter?

The terrible season of the Halos might be over but the bad vibes haven’t come to a stop. After Mike Scioscia stepped down in 2018, the Angels have had a sort of revolving door policy in the manager’s office. They have had 3 managers at the helm since then and are now looking for the 4th one as well.
With each changing manager, the team’s performance has not really improved much. In fact, it may have even declined. With the rise of Shohei Ohtani and the presence of players like Mike Trout, the team should have performed better. But alas! the City of Angels works in mysterious ways. They finished 2023 with a record of 73-89. That made them miss the playoffs altogether. So naturally, they are looking for change again.

The ex-Mets Skipper Buck Showalter becoming an Angels manager is a scary prospect. For the fans that is. If the Angels finished with 73-89, Showalter’s Mets did not do much better. They ended their season with 75-87. So as it stands, the Los Angeles Angels are putting their chips on someone who just had two more wins than them in 2023.
Buck’s overall career has seen him being a well-known figure but he has never won the ultimate prize – the World Series. His record in the postseason? 5-13. He has won a grand total of one series in the postseason in his entire career. That is a worrying sign.
Fans express their worry about the future of the team
The fans were quick to react when they found out this news. They figured that this might finalize Ohtani’s exit. Others felt that Mike Trout deserved better than this. Here is what they had to say.

This fan got emotional after realizing that this might be the end of Sho in Angels.

Another fan questions the credibility of Buck Showalter.
What has Buck won? Has he proved to be a good manager in the stat cast era? He is not the right guy for this team.

But some fans took it lightly. One fan offered a scenario where Buck makes the Players wear cotton uniforms.

Even though the fan base is in despair. This fan chose to remain positive.

It really could be a perfect storybook ending. Buck Showalter joins the Angels finally getting that World Series ring with Mike Trout cementing both of their legacies forever. Like the kid in the movie said “HEY… It could Happen!” #GoHalos https://t.co/OheMv5wOxy

So there you have it, the fans have raised their voice. But the “Buck” stops at the ownership. What will be there decision? Whatever it is, it sure is shaping up to be an interesting off-season for the Angels.
