Aaron Judge made his MLB debut with the Yankees in 2016. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2017. Moving on, he appeared on four All-Star teams, won two Silver Slugger awards, and led the home runs tally in the 2017 American League. Aaron Judge and his chase to 61 continues
Judge, while playing against the Minnesota Twins, increased his homer count and successfully clocked his 55th home run of the 2022 season. He continues to receive praise from the entire realm of baseball as he breaks a record with every series. Michael Kay said, “It has been a surreal and magical season for Aaron Judge. As he chases Roger Maris, the rest of baseball chases him. It seems written by the baseball cards that this is the year that Judge goes after one of the most turbulent records in the game.”
Markedly, Roger Maris had hit 61 home runs in 1961 and holds the record for most home runs in a single American League season to date. Comparing Judge to Maris, Kay said, “In 1961, a Yankee outfielder wearing the number 9 hit 61 home runs. Now, 61 years later, another Yankee outfielder wearing the number 99 is on pace to break that landmark. “
Finally, he concludes by saying, “The stars and the numbers seemed aligned to have Pinstripes replace Pinstripes on top of the American League’s home number.”

Will Judge stay with the Yanks?
Before entering 2022, Judge and the Yankees front office failed to negotiate a seven-year extension contract for approximately $230 million. While the in-form slugger expected a longer and more substantial contract, being 30 years old worked against him. Given these restrictions, Judge entered this year as a free agent.
