Mookie Betts signed a 12-year contract with the LA Dodgers in 2020 for a massive $392 million. This was the biggest contract the Dodgers had ever signed and the third biggest in American history. On the other hand, even Machado bagged himself a heavy $300 million contract with the Padres in 2019.

What did Mookie Betts say about Manny Machado?

While Betts and Machado are essentially modern-day competitors, there is a ton of respect and admiration between the two. This is palpable from the conversation Betts had with the broadcasting box when Machado came to bat.

The box asked Betts, “What has impressed you so much of Manny Machado?” Filled with praise for Machado, Betts replied by saying, “I think just how consistent he is. Um, you know, he does everything at an elite level and then he just doesn’t stop like it’s all year, you know. He applies pressure all year. I mean his swing. Obviously, we all know what kind of defender he is. He controls the zone. “
