According to the MLB reporter Hector Gomez, several credible reports have emerged from Florida. Reportedly, several Miami Marlins players have been subjected to “abusive fines” by certain executives of the organization’s academy in the Dominican Republic.

While reports are still sparse, the news is troubling for MLB fans and players in the league. Reportedly, the fines range from $200-$1,500. While the amounts may not seem significant when compared to MLB contracts, it is relevant to note that they indeed are being imposed on academy players in the Dominican Republic and not the MLB itself.

Former Sports Journalist Mike Rodriguez also reported that the MLB would be investigating the said reports and, while details are awaited, thanked more prominent voices for creating awareness.
