Always finding a way to get a workout in, even on extremely busy days, the former Yankee is notorious for his fitness obsession. ‘Serafina’ and A-Rod have long had an unofficial partnership. A popular Italian restaurant, Rodriguez has often been spotted at its New York locations over the years. Rosanna Scotto, the host of Good Day New York, is also a restaurateur with her ‘Fresco by Scotto’. And the duo recently came together for a cooking show appearance.
Vittorio Assaf, the founder of ‘Serafina’, shared a few pictures on Instagram that show A-Rod posing with him, Scotto, and ‘Serafina’s co-founder Fabio Granato. More pictures show Scotto and Rodriguez holding up pie slices with huge grins on their faces.
It seems like Rodriguez is taking well to his early-stage gum disease diagnosis and will do everything in his power to fight it. As for what caused it, the former shortstop thinks sunflower seeds could be the culprit.

Sunflower seeds are an extremely popular snack in the baseball world. Known for being packed with protein, the small seeds are a generally healthy snack – the problem lies with their shells. The hard outer hull can cause damage to one’s teeth because of improper cracking.

While talking about gum disease, A-Rod ruled out tobacco, which is a common cause. But then he mentioned sunflower seeds, something his teammates actually used to make fun of him for. They found the way he used to eat them hilarious. While no formal reports of a connection between the two exist, the former Yankee mentioned them but then immediately ruled them out too.
Whatever the cause, let’s hope A-Rod can fight it!
