The Athletics are the only professional sports team left in Oakland. If it moves out, the city will have a big void to fill, and leave the baseball fans with no team to support. Fans have tried everything from boycotts to reverse boycotts to halt the move. They have continuously opposed it with their actions, which were visible in the All-Star game.

The city mayor Sheng Thao has joined to support them with her plan. She traveled to Seattle and had a productive meeting with the MLB office. Casey Pratt shared this update on her Twitter handle.

It read,” Oakland @MayorShengThao flew to Seattle to meet with MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred on Sunday. And she showed her work. Wheeling in a dolly packed with Oakland’s plans to keep the Athletics. They met for an hour.”

Pratt in her report for abc7news.com, gave more details about the meeting. She shared,” The meeting, which lasted an hour, went well by all accounts. Oakland city officials including Chief of Staff Leigh Hanson, Howard Terminal Project manager Molly Maybrun and the Mayor’s Chief of Communications Pati Navalta were also there to assist in providing information.”
