The Arizona Diamondbacks’ victorious performance in World Series Game 2 against the Texas Rangers brings the lead to a tie-up. After the extra-innings loss in Game 1 against the Rangers, D-backs rolled a 9-1 win. The team interestingly referred to themselves as ‘Answerbacks’ as Arizona took a home game from Texas.
Since the Fall Classic is now geared towards Game 3, scheduled on Oct 31, the Rangers are looking forward to strategizing effectively. Texas manager Bruce Bochy confirmed that a veteran right-hander, despite facing struggles and a rusty start, will open Game 3 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The three-time Cy Young Award winner, Max Scherzer will be opening the next game against the D-backs. The 39-year-old pitcher will make a fresh start since the ALCS game 3, now returning for the World Series. The forthcoming Tuesday night game is crucial for the Rangers to bring the game into their favor. Bochy is positive about Scherzer’s performance in the upcoming game.

?Yeah, I think so. He could give us length. I?ve talked to him about this,? Bochy remarked to AP News. After straining his teres major muscle, the team was unsure if Scherzer could play in the postseason. After an ALCS performance, the ace again suffered an injury.
Scherzer has a cut on the inside of his right thumb of his pitching hand. He endured the cut during the bullpen session two days prior to World Series Game 1. However, the pitcher believes that it will pose no obstacle and he is rightly confident about playing in the upcoming Game 3. “The pain of it, I can pitch through that. That’s not the problem. It’s just it would get bloody,” Scherzer said. Interestingly, however, Mad Max has been less than stellar in his playoff career.

The current Fall Classic marks the third appearance of Max Scherzer in the World Series. He previously pitched in 2012 facing a loss while playing with Detroit, and in 2019 with Washington winning the title. The ace is now a part of the Texas Rangers after a disastrous beginning to the season in New York.
Scherzer has more than 29 postseason appearances and has a 3.89 ERA. However, his pitching records have faced their own share of turbulent history. In the 2012 World Series, he had a no-decision for Detroit, as the team lost against the San Francisco Giants.
