This MLB season has brought everything to the table. From pleasure, disappointments, controversies, or surprising results, baseball fans are experiencing everything. The season has moved into the second half, and the trade deadlines loom over. Another streak of action awaits to happen. When talking about the New York Mets, who heavily spent in the offseason, the Buck Showalter-led side has failed to prove their worth this season.
One of the players who has disappointed the Mets big time this season is 2-time Cy Young Awardee, Justin Verlander. Right from the start of the season, he has failed to win fans’ hearts. The New York Mets are one team making much noise in the market. It all started with their willingness to sign Shohei Ohtani. Given the sum cost of that deal, they are trying to lower the cost of operations. It started rumors of selling the players. First, it was Justin Verlander, who is on a $86 million contract, and now it seems to be Scherzer.
But according to the 8x All-Star pitcher, he is not going anywhere. Scherzer’s response came when they asked him about the trade rumors. SNY shared a Twitter post with a clip of his response. He denied all the rumors and said, “I’m just not commenting on trades. I’m just not. I’m here to win with the Mets and nothing else. It’s clickbait.”

Noticeably, though, Max Scherzer had a tough start to the season. He was also scrutinized for using illegal items, which made him very unpopular. But ever since, Scherzer has done well and has a win-loss record of 8-4. In 18 starts of the season, he has claimed 114 strikeouts at a WHIP of 1.19. Moreover, if his last five games are counted, he has won 3 of them, proving a great asset to the team. But even after this, the news of teams looking out to have him has failed to get support from the fans.
Unpleased Fans’ Questions Claims From Scherzer
The Mets fans have not liked claims from Scherzer. Questioning his intent and role on the team, fans have rejected his answer to the rumors. While many said, who is going to sign him? Others termed it a lie. The following are the tweets that capture the entire scene.
