Aaron Judge has mesmerized fans and players with his great form. Both his batting and fielding efforts have been outstanding, with great plays being the result. This has led to praise from fans and experts alike. Most recently, a former teammate who praised Judge has stunned fans by choosing Shohei Ohtani in a top category.

Although Ohtani has impressed with both his batting and fielding, he has hit a slump in the batter’s box. Judge, on the other hand, has largely impressed over the last month with his consistently great performances. But the Yankees captain’s former teammate picked Ohtani in this particular category in a shocking turn of events.

Earlier this month, Matt Carpenter lavished praise on Aaron Judge. The former Yankees players even called him a “mythical hero”. But in a stunning turn of events, he recently picked Shohei Ohtani as the best baseball player over Judge. As just a position player, he would pick Judge, but when taking the pitching into consideration, Ohtani is his choice. MLB insider Bryan Hoch shared Carpenter’s recent statement on Twitter.

According to Hoch, Carpenter said, “He’s the greatest player on our planet. Shohei Ohtani, being a pitcher and a position player, that’s pretty hard to top. But just straight position player, (Judge is) the greatest player on our planet.” This take is surprising for the former Yankees player to share, as he admits that Ohtani is the best player.

But at the moment, the Yankees’ captain seems to be in better form. Judge has been one of the main reasons for the Bronx Bombers’ change in fortunes. Ohtani, on the other hand, has been on the wrong end of criticism as the Angels struggle to gain momentum.

Ohtani has hit a slump with the bat whereas Judge is thriving

Although Shohei Ohtani is still pitching really well, he is in a slump with the bat. Over his last 10 games, he has failed to record a hit on 5 separate occasions. Furthermore, he has not had a multi-hit game since May 18th. The two-way phenom has truly hit a difficult slump and will be looking to regain some form. Aaron Judge has been in great form over the last month or so since his injury return. Furthermore, he even earned a Player of the Week award earlier this month.
