Fox Sports confirmed the news in a Tweet following reports that Mattingly was seriously considering an opportunity with a team. Mattingly will bring the Blue Jays his years of experience and success at the highest level. This puts to rest a rumor that Mattingly would be moving into a career as an analyst. And also intensifies rumors that Derek Jeter might become an analyst.

According to reports, networks were looking at Mattingly and Jeter as potential analysts for the 2023 MLB season. YES Network in particular was reportedly interested in signing either Mattingly or Jeter. With Mattingly joining the Blue Jays, all focus will now be on Jeter as his MLB future remains uncertain.

Although Jeter has never had a role as an analyst, he would definitely be an immediate fan favorite should he take the job. Jeter is loved by baseball fans and him being on TV as an analyst would be an instant draw.
