In a recent interview, a Yankees legend opened up on the team’s struggles. Notably, despite having a star-studded team, the Yanks have failed to win anything big after their last championship in 2009. But the former Yankee, who is also the only unanimous Hall of Famer, was full of praise for the Pinstripes.

For those wondering, the former Yankee is none other than Mariano Rivera. Rivera played his whole career with the Yankees and won 5 World Series titles with the team. He was a leader in the team and knows what winning is about. In the interview, Rivera talked about the struggles of the Yankees during the 2022 season and the silver lining. 

Mariano Rivera believes that the New York Yankees did well to bounce back

During a recent interview with Jennifer Williams of Fox 5 New York, Rivera opened up on the New York Yankees’ 2022 season. He said that although the team went through some difficult phases; they were able to bounce back.

Rivera said, “This year at the end, the Yankees were going through tough times but they bounced back. And that’s what it is all about. Every team goes through that.” He then said, “But the Yankees went through it and looked horrible.”

The team bounced back and went on to make the ALCS where they were knocked out. But Rivera believes the team can go further. He said that the Yankees have a good team, but there are holes that need to be filled.

The Yankees need a better rotation

Mariano Rivera believes that the Yankees have a good team but feels that pitching is an area that needs to be improved. He said that there is a good mix of young talent and experienced veterans. But the main problem still lies in the pitching. However, in the name of Carlos Rodon, the Pinstripes did sign a veteran ace on a 6-year contract.
