The singer and actress Mariah Carey is the millionaire ex-girlfriend of the athlete, who did not like him at first. She shared her experience of her first impression of the baseball player Derek Jeter in her book, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.

The singer had gone for a dinner party hosted by Armani, wherein Jeter and his friend were also invited. “I was never drawn to the jock type. Derek and his friend were no exception to my rule. His Armani suit didn’t cover up the Kalamazoo in him. He didn’t have the New York slick vibe that I had become so accustomed to,” Carey said in her book.
