In recent interviews with Jimmy Fallon, it is coming to light that Derek Jeter has a mischievous streak. One of his older interviews is proof of the same. The former Yankees captain confirmed that he definitely used to play pranks on his teammates. However, he also admitted to taking things a little too far on one occasion. “Oh man, I’ve done a couple of bad things” Jeter started while recalling the story in a 7-year-old interview.

Jeter recounted the story of the infamous prank involving the post-9/11 police and bomb dogs that used to come through the clubhouse every day. The prank was aimed at Marcus Thames, who was in his very first weeks in New York, and Jeter had planned a ruse with the police. And what he thought was good fun planted something in Marcus’s bags.

The dogs started sniffing Marcus’s bags, who looked on the verge of tears, according to the shortstop. And the cops took the rookie away before Jeter let him in on the prank. People involved, including Marcus, seemed to have fun, though, so it all turned out well and good in the end.

While Jeter’s intentions were all in good fun, he did acknowledge that sometimes, even the most harmless pranks can go a little overboard. But that’s all part of the learning process.

Derek also played a light prank on the police commissioner in 2000

Derek Jeter was basking in the brilliance of his triumphant 2000 World Series victory when a police officer approached him. The officer presented the newly appointed police commissioner of the city and asked if Jeter would like to snap a photo with the eminence.

Jeter, never one to shy away from a quick wit, seized the opportunity. With a mischievous glint in his eye, he took hold of the officer and quipped, “I’ve got a couple of parking tickets I’d like to talk to you about.” Commissioner Kerik was momentarily taken aback but was quickly won over by Jeter’s charming nature. Chuckling, he replied, “We’ll talk.” And with that, the two shared a moment of laughter, bonded by Jeter’s playful wit.
