The Macon Bacon is a collegiate summer league team that recently caused controversy.

A plant-based eating group asked the team to change its name and stop promoting bacon. But the team had a savage reply ready as they stood their ground.

The Macon Bacon baseball team is built on the idea of loving bacon, the tasty breakfast treat. This is similar to how the pioneering Savannah Bananas are designed based on bananas. Most recently, the bacon-inspired team stood its ground as a plant-based eating group challenged them. According to wsbtv.com, “A group that promotes plant-based eating is aching for a name change for a Macon baseball team. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine sent a letter to the Macon Bacon, a collegiate summer league team, requesting a name change to promote bacon alternatives.” But the team has stood its ground in a savage Twitter reply. 

In a Tweet, they said, “We have released the following statement regarding the Macon Bacon team name: Bacon Yesterday. Bacon Today. Bacon Tomorrow. Bacon Forever. #DripGrease || #StartTheSizzle”.
