Born in Missouri, baseman Luke Voit made his MLB debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2017. Following the first year of his career, Voit moved to the Yankees and started in the farm system before moving to the big league on August 2, 2018. After spending four seasons of his career with the Bronx Bombers, Voit landed in San Diego after getting traded for Justin Lange. And following an above-average start to the season, Voit moved to Washington midway through 2022.

In February 2023, Voit signed a one-year-long minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, with a specific opt-out close if Voit didn’t make it to the 40-man roster. Finally, judgment day for Voit arrived, and the baseman made his decision to part with the Brewers.

Initially, the date decided to make the final judgment was March 14. However, after the date got shifted to March 24, and the Brewers front office was yet to add Voit’s name to the 40-man roster, Voit opted out.

While talking about the situation a few days back, Luke Voit said, “I know they want me here, but obviously these teams hold these roster spots [open] until Opening Day because you don’t know what can happen with injuries. There’s two weeks left. All I’m doing is making their decision harder, and we’ll see what happens. If not, then that’s the reason for the opt-out. We’ll see if another team comes in and swoops me up.”
