New York will not tolerate Brian Cashman anymore. The Bronx is frustrated, even if captain Aaron Judge is doing his best to single-handedly lift morale. For the first time after 2016, the New York Yankees will almost certainly miss the playoffs this year. While the players undoubtedly shoulder some blame, the front office is under as much fire from fans. They want the GM gone, plain and simple.

Judge just made history by becoming the first Yankees player to have multiple three home run games in a single season. But whatever he does at this juncture will not get them to October, let alone break the team’s thirteen-year World Series drought. What they need is a better roster and fans believe Brian Cashman is incapable of doing justice to the team.

In August, Yankees enthusiast Jon Borowski rallied his fellow fans to make their voices heard on September 22. Anyone who wanted the general manager’s position to have a new name was welcome. Then last night, as Aaron Judge patrolled the outfield, chants of “Fire Cashman!” went up around him.

The captain has steadily remained loyal to the management, especially Aaron Boone, but Cashman could do with some more support. Nonetheless, Judge has been homering on an injured toe, lifting the Yankees out of their prolonged funk. Even if it ultimately won’t make a difference to the team’s overall success, at least the club can avoid ending the season in the last place.

Fans still brought out signs of ‘Fire Cashman’, ‘Fire Trashman,’ and ‘Cash Out’, wearing t-shirts with similar slogans. Unfortunately, the chants didn’t quite make it into a full-blown protest as many might have hoped. Overall, the incident turned out to be underwhelming, even if the point was made.

Some pointed out that fans could just stay home if they wanted to take a stance. Certainly, Yankee Stadium has seen less attendance than would be expected in September given the way the season has gone. But the passionate Bronx will not acquiesce to passive protests.

New York Yankees Fans’ Dissatisfaction Will Not Be Tamed

New York may love their captain but they hate the front office more. It was more than visible during yesterday’s game against Arizona as fans held up their signs demanding change.
