Clayton Kershaw is back in LA, but really, did anyone think he would wear another jersey? The Los Angeles Dodgers legend just signed a one-year, $7.5 million deal to return to LA. So, fans can see the three-time Cy Young winner in Dodgers blue for at least one more season. He missed the entire 2024 postseason after his knee and foot surgeries. But now he is back and all geared up for what could be his last ride. But as Kershaw preps for another exciting season, he isn’t the only one making it back to the big league mound again.
The Los Angeles Dodgers truly are the ones everyone can call the front runners when it comes to MLB. Because they have put in the work and, of course, the money. They have the top-tier players Shohei Ohtani, Roki Sasaki, and Blake Snell on their pitching staff. And now $7.5 mil worth Clayton Kershaw is joining the mix. But there’s yet more to be excited about!
Enter Nick Thune, the actor and stand-up comic who once threw a pitch for the Seattle Mariners and is now making his MLB comeback after a nine-year retirement from it. And he is doing it with the Dodgers, in all probability! “I’ve been working with Clayton Kershaw to come out of retirement,” Thune joked at the Rich Eisen show. And there’s more!

Thune continued, “And the Dodgers want me to possibly come out and throw a pitch. No one from the organization has reached out.” Well, everyone has seen him pitch before, and the gum on the back pocket then is something that still breaks everyone out in laughter. Well, this is a huge announcement for sure. Even though Nick Thune himself is a Seattle Mariners fan, he is just as excited. But then many have crossed the bridge and now claim to be Los Angeles Dodgers fans – even though they are MLB’s dubbed ‘evil empire’!

Clayton Kershaw gears up for his return in Los Angeles Dodgers
If there was any doubt about Clayton Kershaw’s return, it all vanished into thin air when he was spotted at Camelback Ranch back in Dodger Blue watching his new teammates gear up for the season. The veteran may not be ready to be his usual self yet, but his presence alone is making fans more than excited. Now he has recovered quickly from his shoulder procedure, but his foot surgery is a beast to handle.
Kershaw said, “With the shoulder, you can still walk and do a lot of stuff. I was back to being a normal dad pretty quick. But being on crutches, being in a boot, and having every step kind of hurt, it was hard. I don’t know if I expected all that a foot surgery entails, but I’m [I’m] thankful now to be on the other side.” Kershaw won’t be pitching in the Tokyo Series, but he will be traveling with the Los Angeles Dodgers to Japan. And the timeline right now to make a return to the mound seems to be June. Though he may come off the Il in late May itself.

Right now, Kershaw has already started throwing bullpen sessions, and while he is not at full strength, he is optimistic: “It’s not 100 percent yet, but it’s getting there,” he said. “Feels good.” For now, Kershaw is simply taking one step at a time. The Los Angeles Dodgers have plenty of staff on the roster and can ease him into the rotation. How do you feel about this return? Let us know your thoughts.
