Baseball has been winning over hearts for over a century now. Countless players have come and gone, but not everyone has left their mark. After putting in innumerable hours of hard work and being better than many, an athlete gets the chance to play in Major League Baseball. One such player would be now-retired MLB veteran Lorenzo Cain. He spent thirteen years of his life playing ball for the Milwaukee Brewers and Kansas City Royals. During this time, he became an All-Star twice, won a World Series, became ALCS MVP, and also won a Gold Glove award.
In March this year, Cain announced his retirement from the game he didn’t know he’d end up loving. However, a month later, the former centerfielder signed a special contract with the Royals, which gave him the chance to get retired as a Royal. And last night was the day when Cain retired as a Royals player, with whom he spent most of his MLB career. Needless to say, the moment was an emotional one and left everyone, including himself, teary-eyed.

Within a month of announcing his retirement, the former athlete signed a contract with the Royals for only a day. The contract once again made Lorenzo Cain a Royals player, and the franchise held a pre-game ceremony for their star to bid farewell in a proper manner.
While addressing the crowd, the thirty-seven-year-old got choked up. And the only one who could cheer him up was his mother. His mother, Patricia, raised him and his brother as a single parent since his father’s death when Cain was merely four years old. Patricia came and hugged her son with a big smile on her face.
