Derek Jeter was about to cry in his last game
Having played for 20 years for a single franchise, Jeter had earned respect and countless loyal fans. After investing so many years, it must have not been easy for Jeter to leave his legacy in the Bronx. But he had no option left.
Talking about his last game on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ Jeter said he felt very odd when people were chanting his name all over the stadium.
“I have said this before. It’s almost like you’re at your own funeral…,” Derek Jeter said to Jimmy Fallon in 2014. “Everyone had great things to say, which I really appreciate. But it’s very very odd to be out there and hearing about yourself like you are about to die. So that’s why I was about to cry.”

As earlier said, Jeter’s baseball career is like a fine Hollywood film. When he played his last home game, Jeter played the hero for the Yankees and won the game in the death.
At once, the Yankees and Baltimore Orioles had five runs each, but a late walk-off hit from the Yankees captain won them the game. The game ended 6-5 in the Yankees’ favor. Notably, Jeter retired in the 2014 season.
