Liam Hendriks gets another win after defeating a life-threatening disease!
It was a memorable moment of his life for Liam Hendriks, who played after defeating cancer. Hendriks played for the Charlotte White Sox and made an impact with three strikeouts. It helped his team win a crucial game with three runs against the Gwinnett Stripers. Stripers upheld the sporting spirit and shared a heartfelt message about Hendriks.
The caption read:- “We don’t always root for opposing pitchers, but, last night, Liam Hendriks made his first appearance since overcoming non-Hodgkin lymphoma. We couldn’t be bigger fans of this Charlotte and White Sox reliever as he threw a 1-2-3 inning last night in a Stripers win”
Hendricks got diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, the last stage of a life-threatening disease. His treatment spanned over five months, with a final round of chemotherapy on April 5. The Australian always believed in and not only defeated it but is back to playing.
According to MLB.com, the beautiful gesture shown by the players, referees, and fans as he entered the field touched Hendriks. He shared, “I went through my warmup pitches and they made a PA announcement. And both teams got out and started clapping … don?t get me wrong, it’s nice and I very much appreciated it. It made me very emotional. But I’m a guy who pitches on anger and it’s really hard to get angry when you know the other team is full of nice people who would do something like that.”

Hendriks played last for the Chicago White Sox in MLB. He is currently undergoing rehab and certainly will look to make a comeback at a bigger stage soon.
