The second richest person on the planet has made a name for himself by founding some of the most famous companies in the world. If he didn’t establish them, he bought stakes in some organizations and now owns them. In the last few decades, the words business magnate and Elon Musk have become synonymous.

So when coming across the name of the billionaire, baseball is not usually what comes to mind. And yet, Musk once posted a picture of himself in an MLB team’s jersey that has fans speculating. Is Musk going to use his generous wealth to buy a baseball team? Is the 51-year-old stepping into the sports world as a fan or a new owner? It’s anyone’s guess!

The Oakland Athletics have been having a bit of a hard time this off-season, and the entirety of 2022. The A’s traded some major players like Cole Irvin, Sean Manaea, and Frankie Montas. Having been in hot water for some time now and it’s uncertain what the upcoming season will look like for the A’s. And in such times as these, it’s especially surprising to see someone like Elon Musk donning the A’s gear on social media. Not to forget that despite being one of the richest personalities on the planet, Musk lost approx $200 billion in 2022, per AS.com.

Taking to Twitter, The Game Day MLB posted a screenshot of the picture with the caption, “Which player’s jersey do you think Elon Musk is wearing?” And fans can’t stop guessing.

When talking about the jersey, some people thought of former icons like Jose Canseco, while some believe it’s just a stock jersey or has Musk’s own name on the back.

The A’s have been struggling with not only new players but also their stadium. In the recent past, RingCentral Coliseum has been home to the Oakland team, but their lease ends after the 2024 season. The MLB has deemed the stadium unfit for professional use, but the team hasn’t had any luck looking for a new place so far. A missed deadline in October meant a missed chance in Oakland, but they might look to Las Vegas now.

However, chances for a Vegas venue are also low because there have been next to no updates regarding the matter. The director of government affairs for Las Vegas-based Global Market Advisors, Brendan Bussmann recently said, “It’s time to fish or cut bait. Oakland, do you want them or not? And if not, where are the A’s going to get the best deal? Is it Vegas? Is it somewhere else? They’ll have to figure that out.
