Not long ago, the New York Mets’ pitcher Max Scherzer got suspended for 10 games for having a foreign substance on his hand during a game. Apparently, Scherzer’s hands were too sticky than they should have been, which then resulted in the umpire ejecting him from the game and eventually leading to the suspension. Scherzer, at first, was made to wash his hands from alcohol in the presence of an umpire, and then he used MLB’s legalized rosin on his hands. The pitcher constantly claimed that the stickiness on his hands was from the combined mixture of sweat and rosin, but the umpire did not believe him.
However, a former 5x World Series Champ, David Cone, recently experimented by washing his hands with alcohol and then rubbing rosin onto them. The result of the experiment left the fans stunned, as they started to question the ban put on Scherzer.
What are the fans saying about Max Scherzer’s ejection?

Before his ejection, Scherzer continuously claimed that the stickiness on his hands was because of rosin and no foreign substance. But the umpires at the time did not believe the pitcher. And now, after watching the experiment with their own eyes and seeing that mixing alcohol with rosin can make the ball completely stuck to the hands, fans are believing that Scherzer’s suspension was done on the wrong terms.

So alcohol and rosin make something sticky. Not a good combo.

However, there are a few who believe Scherzer knew what he was doing.
I mean the guy legit cheated.. that’s why he got suspended. 10 game is really nothing. Tatis did something similar and got 80 games.. that should be the minimum.

That's why mlb told the teams not to use anything with rosin. All teams knew rubbing alcohol would activate and make the rosin more tacky. Scherzer knew what he was doing, and he got caught.

Thanks to his outstanding record from the mound, Scherzer is one of the best and highest-paid athletes in Major League Baseball. And needless to say, this incident has put a stump in his reputation. Not only is Scherzer a World Series Champion but also an eight-time All-Star player having countless accolades to his name. Although innumerable fans are taking his side over this incident, there are also quite many baseball fans believing that the umpire did the right thing, even though it was an umpire who instructed Scherzer to wash his hands with alcohol.
