Should Ohtani keep his 200th homer glove, or donate it for fans to admire?

Another day in the MLB, and Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has reached another colossal milestone. Since joining the MLB, he has now smashed his first 200th career home run at Comerica Park. Against the Detroit Tigers, the two-way phenom started as a lead-off batter. Of course, in the absence of Yamamoto, Ohtani took on the responsibility of leading the team’s hitting menace.

Also, with this astonishing achievement, Ohtani became the first Japanese player to smash 200 home runs in the majors. However, despite Ohtani substantiating his record, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost the game. The LAD lost to the Tigers by an 11-9 score in 10 innings on Saturday. However, after Shohei Ohtani came to sit in the dugout, a hilarious incident with him was caught on camera.

Right after Ohtani came into the dugout calm and relaxed after a historic achievement, one of the Dodgers staff members came to him. Undoubtedly, they wanted Ohtani’s gloves for the Hall of Fame, but the Dodgers star seemed hesitant. Occasionally, he has been a person who would have given it right away. However, since he scored his 200th homer wearing those gloves, he might have loved to keep them with him.

Reflecting on Shotime’s home run, the star pounced on Tigers Keider Montero in the fifth inning. He smashed the ball down towards the right field line, welcoming his 200th home run in his MLB career. Also, with the shot, he reached his 29th home run record for the 2024 season. Additionally, the 200th home run came on Shohei’s 2,848th at-bat in his seventh season.

In the last three seasons, Ohtani has picked up the pace. In 2021, he registered 46 homers, followed by 34 in 22 and an impressive 44 home runs in 2023. Eventually, despite the Dodgers losing the game against the Tigers, Ohtani’s milestone might have made the fans’s day. Yet another fan came to support Shohei Ohtani by saying, ”Let him keep it.” Indeed, it’s a milestone for ‘Shotime’, but as per MLB rules, Ohtani was helpless. He had to give up his gloves for the Hall of Fame view, but the memories will remain with him.

Another fan admired Ohtani for hitting his 200th home run and expressed their feeling, “SHO ME THE BATTING GLOVES!!!.” For over a long time, Shohei Ohtani has been consistent, and with his furious batting and pitching, Fan calling ‘Sho’ instead of ‘Show’ bears resemblance to Ohtani, who is often called ‘Shotime’. Indeed, the word Shotime was derived from the “buzzword of the year” in 2021, when he won the top baseball awards in the U.S.

Additionally, a fan furiously wrote, “Why does he have to give them up?” Indeed, Ohtani himself was hesitating to give off his gloves. But MLB rules are something everyone has to abide by. The MLB Hall of Fame doesn’t purchase artifacts. Therefore, the gloves have to be given to the Hall of Fame, and that’s what the Dodgers star had to do at the end.

While sharing similarities between the Angels and Dodgers, a fan said, “Angels Ohtani and Dodgers Ohtani are the same Ohtani.” Undoubtedly, Ohtani for the Dodgers, we all know, but for the Angels, he was still the same beast. Despite a few bad seasons with the Angles (2019–2020), he finally found his mojo. He won the American League Most Valuable Player award in 2021. With this achievement, he became the first designated hitter to win the elusive title.

Eventually, it seems that signing a $700 million deal for the Dodgers pays off handsomely. Ohtani has pulled 200 homers in just 794 career games. Also, in his batting, he is close to 50 home runs, which he will probably accomplish by the end of the month. Rest. The Los Angeles Dodgers again meet the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. This time, with Shohei Ohtani riding on his 200th home run, can he do something magical against the Tigers? Let us know your answer in the comments.
