As WNBA star Brittney Griner lands in the United States after being under Russian custody for over ten months, the New York Mets legend returns with another controversial comment about Griner’s arrest through his Twitter handle.
Notably, American President Joe Biden, through a diplomatic route, cracked a one-on-one swap deal. Ultimately, the eight-time NBA All-Star received her ticket back home.

Palpably, the Mets legend Lenny Dykstra didn’t seem too happy with the deal that President Biden allowed. And he compared the consequential international issue to a few Mets trade deals and acquisitions that he deemed poor and disappointing.
Lenny Dykstra’s loud mouth won’t stop:
Notably, for the release of Brittney Griner, the United States of America released Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout. Many dubbed this deal as a “loss” to America. And amongst them was the 1986 Mets World Champion Lenny Dykstra, who compared the international trade deal to a few Mets’ deals.
The trade for Brittney
Grinder reminds you most of which of these #Mets trade-fors/acquisition?— Lenny Dykstra (@LennyDykstra) December 9, 2022
His tweet started a poll of supposedly terrible New York Mets deals, and it said, “The trade for Brittney Grinder reminds you most of which of these #Mets trade-fors/acquisition?” The poll options included: “Jim Fregosi (4Nolan Ryan), Bobby Bonilla, Juan Samuel, Flynn/ Zachery/ H-son/ Norman.”
Moreover, in the tweet, he misspelled Griner’s name, which added to Lenny Dykstra’s glaringly offensive comment. Fans, however, didn’t seem bothered by his Griner comment and reacted to the trade options in the polls. This is how they reacted:
Well I chose Bonilla because I didn’t want to equate this 2022 trade with the one from 1989, know what I’m saying…

If only the Mets knew what they had with Ryan.

Russia got the better deal. Also, why is Brittney’s voice a little deeper?

When talking about Dykstra, the former MLB star made his MLB debut in 1985 with the New York Mets. One year into his debut, he won the World Series Championship with the Queens-based team. In 1989, he moved to the Phillies for the more glorious part of his 12-season MLB career. With the Phillies, Dykstra made three All-Star appearances and won the Silver Slugger Award in 1993.

Earlier this year, on smuggling charges, Griner faced arrest in Russia. The Federal Customs Service in Russia detained the WNBA champion at the Sheremetyevo International Airport after she was found with prescribed medicinal cannabis – illegal in Russia.
As a result, Griner faced Russian custody for ten months. And now, following a prisoner swap, Brittney Griner with an international arms dealer – Viktor Bout, Griner has come back to the States.
