Well, on Tuesday night, based on the Baseball Writers’ Association of America’s pick, the top 3 who reached 75% support were revealed. The trio Adrián Beltré, Todd Helton, and Joe Mauer join hands with the former manager Jim Leyland on the journey to Cooperstown. The much loved Texas Rangers third baseman Adrián Beltré and the decorated Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer made their way on their first ballot itself into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The power-hitting Todd Helton, Colorado Rockies’ first baseman made his way in on his sixth attempt as covered on MLB Network.
The (s)quad will be inducted following a ceremony scheduled on July 21 this year at Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, N.Y. When a player lands such a laurel, it’s inevitable to feel “Very emotional,” as Mauer said. Beltre who too was quite moved by the announcement remarked, “I can’t even believe I’m going to be on the same podium with those guys”. Helton was not far behind in feeling overwhelmed. He said, “I was pretty nervous, I really didn’t think the phone was going to ring. When it rang, I was still in shock”.

Though the BBWAA picked the cream candidates in the voting, the other legends were no less applause-worthy. Billy Wagner bagged 284 votes and 73.8% missing the mark by a tiny margin. While Gary Sheffield scooped 246 votes with 63.9%, followed by Andruw Jones with 237 votes and 61.6%. Next up was Carlos Beltrán with 220 votes and 57.1% with Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez not too far behind. They gathered 134 and 125 votes respectively.
