Barry Bonds was one of the most dominating batters in the modern baseball world. His fierceness and power hitting on the field made him a superhero. Because of it, he scored 760 home runs. Apart from this, the former San Francisco Giants player claimed many victories, awards, and recognitions. It includes the title of the player with no weakness. It seems true, but Bonds thinks otherwise.

Bonds was good at everything. Being born into an athletic family, he played many sports and was good at all. It proved him to be a talented baseball but with a gap in atheism. Bonds, while focusing on the same, gave the reason that helped him overcome it and surpass other players for unmatched MLB glory.

Barry Bonds credited his IQ as the reason behind his success

Baseball is a challenging game. Every pitch brings in something new and requires a lot of experience to overcome it. Though physical strength does come into play, the ability to make better judgments is another positive. Though only a few athletes possess, according to Barry Bonds, he was one of them.

In an interview that happened eight years back, Barry Bonds gave many insights about his baseball journey. It includes his ability to understand the game. On the question of maturity, experience, and talent, Bonds reiterated that intelligence quotient plays a big role in it. 

He said, “There’s a lot of players that have great ability. Some of them have better vision than others. But the ones that have the best vision, you don’t have to be the best baseball player, vision’s better, you can see better.”

While answering what made him, Bonds added, “I wasn’t the best all-around athlete. I was very talented at everything that I did, but I was, I had the IQ better than the other guys. I had the IQ better than you.” Well, it was true for Bonds. He overcame all the difficulties to finish his career at a point where many talented players failed to reach. Even after the HOF snub, there is no dent to the fact, that he was certainly the best in the league. His career record does speak the same.

A career that speaks for itself

Barry Bonds had a great MLB career. He played for 22 seasons and was named 2,900 games to become one of the most experienced players on the field. Bonds scored over 2,000 runs and 760 home runs during this period, at an average of 0.298. Not only this, he became a player to win multiple MVPs in the National league.

The 14x All-Star won 12 Silver Slugger Awards, three NL Hank Aaron Awards, and more. He also became the first player in the Giants’s history to have his jersey( No. 25 ) retired without inclusion in the San Francisco Giants Wall of Fame. And all these accomplishments certainly put him in the class and a group of players with a glorious vision. There is also no doubt the Bonds will continue to inspire generations to come.
