New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter left Michigan as a twenty-year-old to play baseball as a Yankee. But it was Michigan that never left him. It always stayed with him and he still has fond memories of the place. The shortstop spent a considerable, 16 years of his life at that place. Michigan was where he grew up, prepared to become a professional baseball player, and had friends.

Basically, his whole life was in Michigan, so obviously, it would be pretty hard to not keep such an important place with him forever. It was tough to move on, to leave the city where he grew up, but it had to be done. And then, the twenty-year-old player went on to become one of the greatest players in the history of Major League Baseball.

With fame came a lot of advertisements, multiple interviews, brand work, and much more stuff. Then, in one such interview in 2013, the shortstop revealed the top 5 rappers he would absolutely love to listen to before going on the field. 

Who are the rappers that were in the top 5 list of Derek Jeter?

A year before the shortstop Derek Jeter retired from the game, he appeared for an interview with Thisis50. At first, Jeter resisted telling the name of the top 5 rappers, but after some insistence, he revealed his favorite 5. 

The rappers included one from Michigan and he was none other than “Rap God” Eminem himself.

As soon as the shortstop named Eminem, he said, “I got my Michigan.”

He made it clear that he was never going to leave Michigan behind, and with Michigan came New York. His personal connection with New York made him mention Diddy as his 5th favorite. 

Jeter has spent all twenty years of his career in baseball with New York Yankees. So New York, everything about NYC has also stayed with him and still does. For his fans, he will forever remain a Yankee, and a baseball legend.
