The era of Babe Ruth is long gone, but fans still see glimpses of him today. The legendary baseball player is a standard feature in the Bronx, although he played for many other teams. Today, although he may be an icon of the sport, Shohei Ohtani has even surpassed the Babe. However, that is not to say New York Yankees fans will forget the Sultan of Swat

The Bronx Bombers, who had just won against the St. Louis Cardinals, got a visit from someone who looked very much like Babe Ruth. And the surprising part is, they weren’t even in the Bronx!

The Cardinals are hosting the New York team at Busch Stadium this time, but clearly, even St. Louis has some Yankee fans. Or maybe it’s just an allegiance to the Bambino. Whatever the reason, an older gentleman with an uncanny resemblance to one of the greatest baseball players of all time paid a visit to the recent game.

Flippin Bats Podcast posted a clip of the man with the video reflecting the text, “hey babe,” and an emoji waving hello. The man is in full Yankee regalia, with a Yankees jersey (away uniform to suit Busch Stadium, of course), a Yankees cap, glove, and even a baseball bat. The cherry on top is the cigar in his mouth, something Ruth was occasionally seen sporting.

The hosts can be heard commenting on it, “Babe Ruth lookalike in attendance in St. Louis…looks itchy, but I like it.” The post is captioned, “a legend among us,” and while some fans agreed, some opposed the claim too.

Baseball fans stand divided on Bambino’s legacy

No one is universally liked. It’s simply human nature, so of course, it’s not a surprise that not everyone adores the Babe. His legacy is a rich one, but since the circumstances from that era have changed, many fans think Ruth wouldn’t attract the same following if he went up against today’s players.

Aside from people sharing gifs of the game ‘Among Us’, two words which the caption mentions, most had scathing comments for the iconic ballplayer.

“Babe Ruth wouldn’t even make it to the big leagues in today’s time. He played against plumbers and construction workers. Most overrated player of all time,” one wrote.

One fan discarded the sports culture of New York entirely, “Being an Ny sports fan is terrible.”

A single fan chimed in Ruth’s support and wanted to know when MLB would give him the proper respect he deserves. “Epic. When is the @mlb going to have a Babe Day? Wayyyyy overdue.”
