The fact that Major League Baseball players get many perks just got proven once again. Handsome salaries, access to top-notch facilities, fame, and the chance of becoming the face of multiple brands are just some of the perks that come with being a professional baseball player. One such player getting these perks is the Japanese descent player Lars Nootbaar. 

The 25-year-old athlete currently plays for the MLB franchise St Louis Cardinals as an outfielder. With a batting average of 0.266, Nootbaar’s statistics show that he’s doing well on the plate. Most recently, the slugger received a personalized item from a major food brand. However, it failed to impress the baseball fans.

For those unversed, until May 30, Nootbaar was doing pretty well on the plate. At 154 at-bats, he had 41 hits, giving him 25 runs and four home runs. However, on May 30, Lars got shelved because of a lower back contusion and got sent on a ten-day injured list.

Now, to wish him well, one of the top food brands in America, McCormick sent Nootbaar a personalized box of pepper grinders. There were five bottles in the box, and each had Nootbaar’s picture with “Lars Nootbaar’s pepper grinders” written on them. 

With the grinders, McCormick also sent the athlete a handwritten message wishing him a speedy recovery and to enjoy the grinders from the entire team. Nonetheless, this special gesture failed to impress the baseball fans after the story posted by Nootbaar got posted on the FOX Sports Twitter handle.

Nootbaar is the first player not born in Japan who not only represented the country in the World Baseball Classic but also led his team to win the tournament. He has shown immense talent in his merely two and a half years in the league. Now when the athlete is going through a time, instead of sympathizing, they’re having fun.
