Home/MLB

It has been only four years since Shohei Ohtani made his major league debut for the LA Angels. And he has already become the face of MLB in such a short period. Apart from his unique two-way playing style, his humbleness and professionalism are the other things that put him in a league of his own.

What is more remarkable about Ohtani is that he is only getting better game after game. Considering his value, the Angels rewarded Ohtani with a massive one-year contract to avoid his arbitration. And with the reigning AL MVP getting this huge contract, Ohtani might have an edge over Aaron Judge.

Is Shohei Ohtani a bigger brand in MLB than Aaron Judge?

Ohtani’s rise in MLB has been nothing but phenomenal. From getting $5.5 million a year to landing a $30 million a year contract, the Japanese slugger has come a long way. And if things go his way, he might be one of the best-paid players in the league, way ahead of the Yankees star Aaron Judge.

Per Forbes.com, with his new contract, Shohei Ohtani can earn over $50 million a year. It also includes a few of his associations with the top multinational brands like ASICS, Hugo Boss, Fanatics, and Topps.

Now, coming back to Aaron Judge, who also happens to be a phenomenal player and is having an exceptional season this year. As a matter of fact, Judge is also in the last year of his contract. And given the kind of season he is having, the Yankees star will most probably land a massive contract in his free agency.

But it might just not be enough to beat Ohtani’s total earnings. And it has nothing to do with who is better between them. Ohtani, being an international star, has a slight edge over Judge. Another fact that one can not ignore is that Judge is already 30 plus, and he might not have his prime years more than 5 years.

On the other hand, Ohtani can easily play at least 7-8 years in his prime.
