The Dodgers’ fan-favorite utility man is back in blue! Kiké Hernández, the spark plug of last year’s postseason, is reportedly reuniting with L.A. on a one-year deal. The excitement hit a fever pitch when Hernández took to X, posting a cryptic video of the Dodgers—sending fans into a frenzy over his imminent return. Getting Hernandez is the fitting end to the decorated offseason of the Dodgers this year.
The explosive offseason that the Dodgers have had so far is enough to keep the fans on the edge of their seats wanting more, and now they are served with Hernandez. The fans are sharing their excitement about Hernandez’s post, expressing how they asked him to be with the team for one last time. So what makes him so exciting?
The Dodgers are now offering the vibe of the vintage Yankees from the late nineties by getting the top names in each position. This offseason, they have landed a few of the top names, and now getting Kike Hernandez is making the team complete for 2025. Well, the Dodgers might end up getting a few more names, but landing Kike Hernandez offered an extra layer of protection for the Dodgers’ infamous injury-ridden rotation. Hernandez played for the Dodgers in a contract of one year for $5 million, and expectedly the amount will be the same this year as well.

On the other hand, getting Hernandez will again spark the debate about the Dodgers being an evil empire. However, Kike was in free agency for a good time with no teams making a move to land him, leaving the Dodgers to play at will! His postseason run, especially his home run in Game 5 of the 2024 World Series, made him special among the Dodgers’ supporters. As the fans are now looking to secure the ring this time also, what could be better than getting their postseason hero back?
Dodgers fans are ecstatic about Kiké’s return
Since the time Hernandez hit free agency, fans are desperately waiting for his return, citing the value he offered during postseasons in the past. So it can be speculated how much the video posted by Kike Hernandez caused a stir among the fans.
Its not Dodger baseball without Kíke. Welcome back my king

Kike Hernandez and the Dodgers are synonyms for each other and cannot be separated, as this fan said. Hernandez got two big home runs this past October, including the go-ahead home run in Game 5 of the NLDS against the Padres. So how come the team can leave out their star who got them their last World Series title? Fans are excited considering how much Hernandez will add value at the end of the line-up this year as well.
Woo hoo!!!!! So glad you are coming back to the Dodgers!!!!

Fans have all the reasons to be glad about getting Hernandez back to the team. For the untold, Kike Hernandez got his career OPS at .874 in the postseason, and this will come in handy for the Dodgers, who are eyeing their consecutive World Series ring this year. Last year, Hernandez played a total of 126 games, appearing at every position except catcher and right field for the Dodgers. Talk about the utility this man offers!

One user remarked about how the signing of Henandez is making the Dodgers complete, and now the team is all set to go for the consecutive World Series this year. Well, the Dodgers already have Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, Kirby Yates, and many more, but Hernandez, being a utility player, will play a key role in any position in case of injuries to Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, or Miguel Rojas. Thus, the addition of Kike Hernandez got the Dodgers’ depth further strengthened and made the fans hoping for the consecutive World Series.
I would give up watching the next 10 Super Bowls if it means Kikè is back!

Leaving out the most-watched sporting event in the US to get Hernandez back speaks a lot about fans’ excitement! It’s more surprising considering the fans are excited about getting Kike Hernandez back despite having such a star-studded team of the Dodgers this year. A player who hit .229 with 12 homers and 52 RBI last year, including three hits in nine at-bats in the NLDS and seven hits in 24 at-bats in the NLCS deserves all this attention. Fans know whom they should bet on in making this coming postseason bigger.
Wish you were still in Boston. Good luck to you.

A rather interesting take from a Red Sox fan. Incidentally, Hernandez was traded from the Red Sox to the Dodgers in 2023, which was the turning point in the Dodgers’ route to the World Series. As a Red Sox, it’s painful to watch what a jewel Kike Hernandez was and that he was traded off. Well, it also spelled good for Hernandez considering he had a low-key 2022 season with the Red Sox with only 6 HRs and 45 RBIs.
Now fans would just hope to see Hernandez replicating his last year’s performance this time and again, getting the Dodgers to the record book.
