Surprises have filled the 2023 MLB season. From underdog teams overleaping the best in the league to surprising trade deals depicting a change in normal functioning, everything has gone against expectations. Though it has made things attractive, it has also received a mixed response from the MLB world. The same was the scene when the New York Yankees‘ latest signing, Keynan Middleton, experienced an unwanted treat during his visit to his old home.
Notably, the Yankees signed Middleton in a trade of their minor league pitching prospect, Juan Carela, with the White Sox during this trade window. It was his revisit to his old home after he played the third game of the Yankees vs. White Sox series. Although everyone expected a great visit, the pitcher faced a change with the removal of his name from the scoreboard. It left the fans unsatisfied, who showed displeasure in their social media reactions.

The MLB world has mostly seen emotional reunions when former players have visited their old team. But with Middleton, everything was different. The Yankees relief pitcher was unwelcomed with a blank space in his name on the same scoreboard that noted down his every pitch a few days back.
Barstool Sports shared a Twitter post. It read, “Keynan Middleton called out the White Sox’ dysfunction after being traded to the Yankees. Now the scoreboard refuses to even show his name. Petty.”

This surprising move is popularly believed to be a response to Middleton’s comment after he left Chicago. While conversing with the media, the 29-Year-Old brought no rule conversation into the picture. He told that the Chicago White Sox do not have any rules the players need to follow. While saying it eases the situation for the players, he indirectly pointed out the indiscipline.
However, the White Sox’ manager Pedro Grifol denied it. But it seems they could not get over his comments and chose the path of revenge through this move. And the baseball fans were not sure about the correctness of this method and rejected it right away.
Fans Call Out White Sox for Taking an Unwelcoming Path
Fans love proper battles, where the two sides are equally involved. But with Middleton, the White Sox were the sole party.
