The New York Yankees are again at the center of attention this season. Surprisingly, not for their success but for their miseries. The second-highest spender in the ongoing season is on the wrong end of the ladder. Although many factors have contributed to their struggles, the inconsistency of the squad has been the biggest problem. Notably, much of it has been due to injuries, especially to the outfielders, including Aaron Judge, the latest being Jasson Dominguez. Because of this, they have to fill in the void for a better season. But with less faith in Juan Soto, the Yankees are left with limited options on the market.
But given the history and legacy of the Bronx, players are always open to playing at this stadium if given the opportunity. The same seems true with the Toronto Blue Jays outfielder, Kevin Kiermaier, who is approaching free agency and has shared his willingness to wear the Pinstripes. With a perfect record, he seems fit for the role. But fans look unhappy with his consideration and have rejected the move even if he checks all the boxes.

It has been a good season for Kevin Kiermaier. The 33-year-old defying the odds has played well at the plate, with an average of 0.270 and an OPS of 0.756. Apart from that, the experienced player has scored eight HRs, 55 Runs, and 35 RBIs with a WAR of 3.7. According to the Fireside Yankees, the three-time gold glover has done exceptionally well in the outfield too. He has saved 70 defensive runs. Kevin has also been the best defensive outfielder at 92 runs and the second-best overall defender behind Francisco Lindor since 2016.

Given the records, the search for an outfielder might be over for the Yankees GM Brian Cashman, who ignored Juan Soto for his own beliefs. According to nypost.com, the center fielder himself thinks so. After making his other appearance, Kevin said, “I like the AL East. I’ve played in the division my entire career. I especially like here and Fenway.”
Pointing towards the reason behind it, he added, “Feel like I’m always hitting homers here or playing well. Being on the turf my entire career, I enjoy being on the grass. My body feels so much better being on grass.”
Given that other teams don’t play on grass, the player is happy experiencing it at the Bronx. He has shared his willingness to continue his MLB here from the next season. But the Yankees fanbase is unhappy with that desire.
Kiermaier’s Yankees Desire Gets a Disapproval From Fans
Given the season, fans want the Yankees to do better next year. For doing so they want the management to sign players who can contribute and stay injury free. But the list does not include Kevin Kiermaier. Although he has played well and contributed, his age has put him out of that list. Because of this, they have rejected his desire to be their own from next season in the following ways.
Yanks have enough injury prone players. We don’t need another Jacob Ellsbury.

Although most factors, including his contract, are less than $10 million a year, it seems fans are not thinking of him as a potential Yankee in the future. The reason for this seems to be his age. But given many other players in their early 30s have done better, he can contribute. But will the Yankees GM consider him overlooking fans? What are your thoughts on this?
