The Baltimore Orioles find themselves in the middle of an ugly controversy. All season long, the club has surprised fans by sitting at the top of the AL East and maintaining that position. However, recent actions from the ownership have lain a waste of everyone’s efforts with a wrongful suspension.

Just a few days ago, fans noticed that MASN commentator Kevin Brown was missing from the broadcaster’s booth. It later came to light that Brown was on an indefinite suspension. Why? For simply stating facts in a respectful manner. Needless to say, the baseball world was fuming.

Brown may be wondering what exactly he did wrong, reading from notes that were pre-approved. But someone in the front office found his comments offensive and suspended the O’s play-by-play commentator indefinitely. As a result, MLB’s broadcaster berated the Baltimore management for their behavior.

The New York Yankees‘ Michael Kay pointed out that Brown was not alone in it. ?If you?re going to be so thin-skinned to suspend Kevin Brown, then you have to suspend the entire Orioles (broadcast) truck,? Kay rages. “It?s unconscionable that you would actually suspend a really good broadcaster for no reason whatsoever…This makes the Orioles look so small and insignificant and minor league.?

Another individual went off on owner John Angelos, absolutely livid at the decision. ?This idiot Angelos, who?s never won a damn thing,? Chris Russo boiled with rage. ?This is the guy that gets (Brown) fired or gets him demoted or gets him silenced for a period of time as sort of punishment. Are you kidding me?! That is a disgrace. That is so bad, I don?t even know how to comment. Who would want to be a play-by-play guy of the Orioles??

This news comes just after ESPN’s layoff list made the rounds, including NBA’s color commentator Jeff Van Gundy. While rumors are flying that it was actually NBA’s decision, nothing is for sure. Meanwhile, Kevin Brown is receiving full support from his peers.

MLB Host Points Out 29 Other Teams Would Gladly Take Brown for Themselves

It’s not that Brown made a mistake. Everyone messes up from time to time; after all, it’s human nature. But what many find particularly frustrating here is that Brown made no obvious errors. ?The Orioles split a two-gamer with the Rays in June. They had lost their last 15 series here at Tropicana Field. ? Already got 3 and 2 at the Trop this year after winning three of 18 the previous three years combined,? is apparently what the O’s front office couldn’t stand.

Well, the MLB world can’t stand the wrongful suspension. SNY Mets’ Gary Cohen beautifully pointed out all the errors the O’s made with this decision. “Let me just say one thing to the Baltimore Orioles management, you draped yourself in humiliation when you fired John Miller and you?re doing it again. And if you don?t want Kevin Brown there are 29 other teams that do.”

“It?s just a shame because the Orioles have played so well and now they?ve diverted attention from that. And now have made themselves a laughingstock.”

In a rare instance of the sports world uniting, almost every announcer is putting the O’s management under blast. While NBC Sports? White Sox broadcaster Jason Benetti made a joke about the situation, it just goes to show how deeply this has affected the masses.

This is just a small collection of comments from around the athletic world, who stands in full support of Brown. Although the O’s had denied even the suspension at first, Brown has now been reinstated. Nevertheless, this will not be forgotten anytime soon. Simply put, it has catapulted the club from fame to infamy.
