Aaron Judge has been having a very busy off-season so far. Following a 2022 season where he was named the AL MVP, Judge became a free agent for the first time. During this time he talked to a number of teams to weigh all his options and choose the best one. 

Judge eventually signed a 9-year $360 million deal to stay with the Yankees for the rest of his career. But despite the fame and money that he’s earned over the years, Judge is still a simple person. He recently opened up on his favorite MLB player’s card to collect. 

Aaron Judge is still searching for a Ken Griffey rookie card

Aaron Judge recently took part in the Fanatics AMA Series. During the episode, he can be seen answering a number of questions about himself and baseball in general. One of the questions was about his favorite baseball player to collect during his childhood. The Yankees captain answered almost immediately saying that he’s been looking for a Ken Griffey Jr. Rookie card for some time now.

Judge said “Man, I was always searching for a rookie Ken Griffey card. But uh, still uh, still on the lookout, still on the lookout.” This confirms just how simple the Yankee star is as a person even after making millions of dollars. Superstardom does not seem to have affected him.

It probably surprised some that the New York Yankee’s newest Captain still collects baseball cards and that he hasn’t been able to buy the card that he wants. But it also makes the Yankee star more relatable. Judge opened up on being named captain and reportedly considers it a huge honor. 

Judge is thrilled to continue building his legacy with the Yankees

Aaron Judge is excited to continue building his legacy in New York. According to the Associated Press, he said, “I get a chance to continue my legacy here in pinstripes, the best city in the world, the best baseball city, in front of the best fans.”

The extension with the Yankees will likely make Judge a Yankee lifer and he will more than likely retire with the team. He is also excited about being the next Captain and considers it a huge honor.
