The New York Yankees are not doing so well. With the team sporting a near 0.500 record more than halfway into the season, it appears as though their chances for a postseason are slim. And while the team may not be doing as well on the diamond, it appears that the Yankee faithful too are now feeling the effect of their team’s dip in form, thanks to the Texas Rangers.

The Yankees are a historic franchise. With 27 pennants to their name, it’s not a coincidence that they are called the ‘winningest’ team in baseball. But recent years have not been kind to the Pinstripes. With their last World Series win coming in 2009, the Bronx faithful have not had the greatest 2010s. And it appears that the Yankees’ lack of success has led to other teams around the league pushing the boundaries.

Baseball is a fan sport. The ballpark is a celebrated place for many and watching a game brings out memories for most fans that they hold deep and close to their hearts. But those traditions may be up for grabs. At least if you listen to the Texas Rangers fans.

With the Yankees underperforming in 2023, the Pinstripes are no longer marked as a franchise that needs to be feared. And while the roll call might have been a Yankee tradition, the Rangers may be taking it over. They participated in the practice at a recent game vs the Los Angeles Angels.

One fan even took to Instagram to voice his frustration. “But you don’t do this Rangers fans. The Roll call was a Yankees thing and it always will be. This is a Yankee tradition,” he added.

This tradition sees fans call out each player’s name from the right field bleachers until the players on the field give the fans some sort of acknowledgment. Either by waving or turning to the fans, it’s the Yankees’ way of making sure the fans are appreciated. And while undoubtedly a great custom, it hasn’t found its way to ballparks around the country yet.

Fans React as Texas Rangers Take Over

The Texas Rangers are the team to be in 2023. Leading the AL West with more than 70 wins so far this season, the Rangers are a show in for the post-season. And while they may still have a little ways to go, they certainly have soaked in the winning mentality. And they seem proud to boast about it too.

Taking to Instagram, one fan said, “We’ll be louder next time.

And while beating someone when they are down is not the most the classiest move, the Yankees were not spared. “Yankees fans try not to bitch challenge (impossible),” one fan commented. Another added, “Why is this making me so angry?” – it’s because Yankees fans are entitled AF

Others still seemed to revel in the Yankees’ frustration. Said one fan, “Imagine being this bitter over something so silly. What y’all gonna do, trademark it? 🤪.” Another fan added,😂😂😂 yanks fans suffering is gold.

The Rangers look set for a deep postseason run with their roster firing on all cylinders but it will be interesting to see how they actually fare come October. If they continue at their current rate, even the ultimate pennant doesn’t look unachievable.
