Naturally, with 27 World Championship Rings, the New York Yankees cater to the largest fan base in MLB. With their rich history, that’s only expected. And among this enormous fan base is a 27-year-old, Minnesota Timberwolves superstar, Karl-Anthony Towns.
The Timberwolves’ power forward and center, coming off a brilliant 2022-23 season, and pretty much carrying the Wolves along with 21-year-old Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert, reached the iconic Bronx before the Pinstripes won a close encounter against the Orioles.
Karl-Anthony Towns, for the first time since the new stadium was constructed, visited the iconic Bronx and reminisced a simple but adorable gesture by Bernie Williams, which made him a lifelong Yankees fan.

What did Bernie Williams do to make young Karl-Anthony Towns a lifelong New York Yankees fan?
In an interview with YES Network, Karl-Anthony Towns spoke about his first impression of the new Yankee Stadium, since it was the first time he was visiting.
The 3x All-Star said, “It’s beautiful. I’ve been at the old stadium. I’ve never been to the new one. This is special. It’s beautiful, as beautiful as I imagined it on TV. I’m really excited to be here. Honored to be here with the Yankees. Lifelong Yankees fan. I’m going to die being a Yankee fan.”

Moving on, Meredith Marakovits asked Towns about his favorite memory at Yankee Stadium, and the Timberwolves star narrated what four-time Yankees World Champion Bernie Williams did. He said, “The only time I’ve been at Yankee Stadium was at the old stadium. Roger Clemens was pitching, and Bernie Williams at center field gave me a ball. He just tossed me one when they were warming up. I think that was probably the most memorable thing cause it’s the only time I ever came.”
He continued to add, “And you know, you’re young, and I know how it is for me now, being in a position giving shoes, a towel to a kid, it means a lot. When I was that age, and I got that baseball from Bernie Williams, I was super happy and I still have the baseball to this day.”
