Winning an award is an indication of having achieved something great. This stands true for MLB stars as well, with many aiming to collect accolades and awards. Every year, players are striving to play the best baseball that they can. By doing so, they want to achieve one of two things, winning a championship or earning an award. The award winners for the 2022 MLB season recently collected their trophies. This moment should have been one of the biggest moments of their career. But the MLB has caused confusion over two trophies that seem to have mistakes on them.

Cy Young Award Winners Justin Verlander and Sandy Alcantara received trophies with spelling mistakes

All the major award winners for the 2022 MLB season recently received their awards. Justin Verlander and Sandy Alcantara were no different, picking up their trophies for being named Cy Young winners. Verlander won it in the AL and Alcantara in the NL. But Twitter user Talkin’ Baseball noticed something wrong with the trophies. In a Tweet, they pointed out that there was a spelling error on the trophies.

They pointed out that instead of the trophy having ‘Most Valuable Pitcher’ written on it, it said ‘Most Valuble Pitcher’. The word valuable was spelled wrong. In the Tweet, Talkin’ Baseball said, “omg valuable is spelled wrong”

Fans quickly caught onto the error and ridiculed the League for making such a mistake. Most of them ridiculed the MLB. Some fans cracked jokes at the League’s expense. But there was a general sense of disbelief.

In addition to the spelling error, neither Verlander’s nor Alcantara’s names are mentioned on their trophies. Although it seems like the League has made a huge mistake, there may be a perfectly good explanation for these trophies. Furthermore, they seemed to have gotten one trophy right.

Aaron Judge received a perfect award from the League

Aaron Judge won the AL MVP award for the 2022 season. The Yankees recently shared an image of Judge holding his award on Twitter and there appeared to be no errors. He dressed in a suit and tie for the occasion.
