Justin Verlander Reveals How Supermodel Wife Kate Upton Surprised Him Before His 40th Birthday: “Was Just Really Well Thought Out”

The recent MLB off-season has been extremely busy for the New York Mets. The Mets negotiated a number of contract extensions and deals during this off-season. Apart from extending the contracts of some key players, the Mets also brought in several stars via free agency. Their biggest free agent acquisition was Justin Verlander, who is coming off a fantastic 2022 season with the Houston Astros. 

They signed Verlander on a 2-year pact worth $86.7 million with a vesting option for $35 million in 2025. But this was not the only thing that the Mets’ star pitcher celebrated. Most recently, his wife Kate Upton surprised him.

Mets star Justin Verlander received a Surprise Birthday Party from his wife Kate Upton

Justin Verlander signed with the New York Mets this off-season. This was following a 2022 season in which he took home the Cy Young Award and helped the Astros win the World Series. But that was not the only thing that Verlander celebrated. His wife Kate Upton threw him a Surprise Party for his 40th birthday. SNY Mets shared the news via Twitter and also a video of Verlander talking about the party. 

In the video, Verlander gushed about the party, saying, “We rented out this older club and like decorated it and um you have to ask my wife the theme. She had a whole theme. I wish I had the whole thing, um. It was black tie, which was awesome. Everybody looked amazing, and there was like uh, a cabaret show, and um, we had an amazing DJ. We did like a big birthday cake. It was just really really well thought out. It was a great party.”

The Mets’ star pitcher also mentioned that his wife took him by complete surprise with the party. She had apparently told him that it was a party for one of his friends. So the surprise really worked. 

Verlander will bolster the Mets’ bullpen and offer championship experience

Justin Verlander is joining a New York Mets that won 101 games but were knocked out of the postseason in the Wild Card Series. He helped the Astros win the 2022 World Series and has a lot of postseason experience. Furthermore, he is an upgrade of Jacob deGrom who left in free agency.
