Derek Jeter is enjoying retirement by spending time with his family and working on a variety of different business ventures. The New York Yankees legend played MLB for 20 years, dedicating time and effort to being the best baseball player of his time. With that effort and hard work, there also comes sacrifice as one spends large amounts of time training.

Jeter was always focused on doing his job to the best of his abilities. He remained focused at all times, with only one goal in mind: winning a championship. The Yankees’ legendary shortstop once revealed the harsh truth behind his ability to have fun during his career.

MLB stars have a rough 162-game schedule that allows them very little time to have fun and party, apart from games. During a 2014 interview, Derek Jeter opened up on how he had fun during his career. The New York Yankees legend revealed that his career required a lot of his time. He was not able to have as much fun as other people. But Jeter followed up by saying that he would have enough time for that post-retirement.

During the interview, Jeter said, “Like anyone else, just unfortunately my job requires a lot of time. So, that’s why I look forward to, when-when my career is over with, to try to have a little bit more fun. And maybe go around and see the world a little bit more. But, I’m not complaining, I’ve enjoyed my time here, I’m continuing to enjoy my time here. There’s plenty of time to have fun when I’m finished.”

This is a huge testament to just how focused Jeter was on his career and not being distracted. Throughout his 20 years in MLB, he avoided partying during the season so that it didn’t distract him or his teammates. Jeter wanted everybody to keep their mind on winning the World Series title. The Yankees legend attributes his hard-working mentality to his parents. But since retiring, he has enjoyed many different experiences. 

Jeter will never return to an MLB dugout role

During a recent interview, Derek Jeter ruled out returning to MLB as a manager. The former Yankee stated that the schedule is too rough and that he wants to spend time with his family. Jeter seemed resolute in the answer, but it will be interesting to see if that changes in the coming years.
