Despite being one of the strongest MLB franchises, the New York Yankees haven’t won a World Series in the last thirteen years. Even though the Bronx Bombers won the ALDS, they succumbed in the ALCS against the Houston Astros. So, considering their consistent fiasco in the postseason, the Yankees front office has made some major changes in its roster and also in its executive department.

After the landing the SF Giants’ mastermind, Brian Sabean, or to say the person who recruited the ‘Core 4’, the Pinstripes have now acquired yet another executive in their team. Not long ago, the front office announced the appointment of Omar Minaya as Senior Advisor to Baseball Operations, which has sent the fans into a frenzy.

After adding Sabean as the executive advisor to GM, Brian Cashman, acquiring the veteran executive Omar Minaya comes second for the Yanks. Notably, even though the Yankees are sticking with their GM Cashman for a long time, their fans have been very against the same.

Minaya formerly served as general manager of the New York Mets and the Montreal Expos, becoming baseball’s first Latino GM in 2002. Known for making daring efforts to sign high-profile players, he brought in Carlos Beltrán, Pedro Martinez, Carlos Delgado, and Johan Santana during his time with the Mets.

While there were a few people who thinks adding Minaya to the team would help the team win their 28th World Series, the majority of the fans think adding more executives isn’t going to help the team. Rather, they should be focusing on where they lack left field.

How did the Yankees’ latest acquisition work in his early years?

Aside from making bold moves to recruit high-profile players, Minaya has struggled with both the teams he previously worked with. Under his reign of three years in the Montreal Expos, the team missed getting into the playoffs every season. Not to forget that his tenure in the Mets was not so great either. In all the six years he worked as the Mets GM, the team made it to the playoffs only once.
