Aaron Judge, the star right fielder, was named the New York Yankees captain earlier this year. Now he is taking on an even more prominent role with the team. As he prepares to lead the Yankees in the upcoming MLB season, Judge has been busy getting to know his teammates. And the Yankees captain has also been supporting them on and off the field, including the young shortstop Anthony Volpe.

The 21-year-old has already impressed Judge with his skills and work ethic off the field and has drawn his attention to the new Yankees captain. Notably, Volpe secured his place in the Opening Day lineup only a few days ago, beating top candidates like Oswald Peraza and Isiah Kiner-Falefa. And considering the immense talent Volpe possesses as a shortstop, the reigning AL MVP could not stop himself from praising the young talent.

Aaron Judge, the newly appointed Yankees captain, has been keeping a close eye on the team’s young shortstop prospect, Anthony Volpe. He believes that Volpe is one of several young players who will help the team win in the future. Judge’s statement came after Volpe hit a home run against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. Throughout spring training, the shortstop has been excellent with smacking three home runs from the plate.

Judge spoke about his admiration for Volpe and excitement about his potential. “The organization believing in a young guy like Volpe — we got quite a few other young guys that are probably gonna help us win a lot of ballgames down the road — as a player, that just gets you excited,” the 30-year-old said per the NY Post. “Knowing that, hey, the organization wants the best product on the field no matter the age or who they are, that excites you as a player.”
