The Juan Soto deal could not get more suspenseful. While the whole MLB world waits for the news of the big signing, a delay due to medical review stepped into another layer of delay. But this time, supper is in the way.

@BNightengale shared a tweet that said, “The Padres are at the professional baseball scouts dinner, so it will be hours, or perhaps tomorrow, until a Soto deal is finalized.” With that, one has to wait longer. Both the teams prolonging making a statement could have an underlying meaning. Does this indicate that it’s a done deal? Or are there any more loose ends to tie?

Brimming with suspense, fans hoped to celebrate and congratulate the Yankees. But folks might have to wait longer with little to no information. First there was news that the talks between NYY and San Diego Padres were punctuated. Second, there was a delay owing to reviewing medical information. Now dinner came in the way. The conclusion is that on one hand, all events indicate that the Yankees and Padres would close the deal on Juan Soto by tonight. But things are still far from being done.

Well, it is also important to note that this trade does not solely include the Dominican. San Diego is set to acquire five players. Namely, pitchers Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito, Randy Vásquez, and catcher Kyle Higashioka in the deal.
